Company History

2011

Dr. Cheng-Huan Zhong, Professor Anthony Croxford, and Professor Paul Wilcox started their research on the WAND technology within the Ultrasonics and Non-Destructive Testing group at the University of Bristol in 2011.

2015

Following the development of a successful proof of concept and filing of a number of patents, Ïã½¶´«Ã½ was spun-out from the University of Bristol.

2017

Ïã½¶´«Ã½ launched it’s first generation WAND Handheld Data Collector (WAND-HDC) and WAND Thickness Monitoring Sensors for initial trials. The company secured their first round of investment.

2019

The second generation WAND system was launched. The company achieved ISO9001 and ATEX certification on the sensors. Technology formally approved by first major operator.

2021

The WAND Remote Data Collector (WAND-RDC) was launched to enable automated data collection.

2023

After receiving approval from Saudi Aramco, Ïã½¶´«Ã½ secured investment from Aramco Ventures to support further growth.

2024

The WAND-Online Solution was launched to enable real-time remote wall thickness monitoring.

Present

Ïã½¶´«Ã½ was awarded the prestigious Kings Award for Innovation in the Enterprise Category 2025. Thousands of sensors have now been deployed across 34 countries.

From embeddable, battery-free sensors to advanced IoT and robotic data collection tools, these solutions are built to support both end users and OEM integration at the point of manufacture.
